Forget your troubles come on GET HAPPY!!! → youtube.com

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”

— Anne Bradstreet

This past year has blessed me with my first two failures. I used to think I couldn’t fail at anything and then reality set in and I now see my failures as two of the greatest blessings thus far in my young life. I am excited to see what life has in store for me next. I hope ya’ll are enjoying the holiday season!!! As Judy Garland sang in 1950 Forget your troubles, come get happy!

“5 Things I Wish I Could Have Told Myself About Life 5 Years Ago”

I started to ponder on how much I have learned in the past year and how much I have changed. Which got me thinking about the next couple years and how much more I will learn and grow. Who I was five years ago and what mattered to me five years ago is light ages away from who I am today and what matters the most to me today.

1. The very best way to predict what someone will do in the future is to look at what they’ve done in the past

….Don’t wait around waiting for someone to be what you would like them to be. Men rarely change unless his conviction to change comes deep from within and is truly and mostly for himself and no one else. Learn to love and appreciate how amazing you are and then you will never stand for bullshit.

2. Excellence is an achievable goal – perfection is not.
….You may not be perfect but parts of you are pretty awesome. Don’t burn yourself out trying to be everything you are not. It’s ok to not do or be perfect on everything. Everyone has a bad hair day, a bad test day, a bad day at work day but you can always know every second is a chance for change. You create everyday who you want to be but just make sure your base of what you stand for is always intact.

3. You absolutely, unequivocally CANNOT please everyone
…Someone will always have a problem with you but most of the time that isn’t your problem it’s there problem. You live your life the way you see fit and right for yourself not for anyone else. You create your dreams not the girl making snide remarks or the boy who broke your heart.

 4. There are very few things in life that are truly important.
You really realize this when unexpected accidents claim lives, when diseases like cancer invade and claim peace of mind, when financial struggles set in and threaten security.  Love your family and friends and those who treat you right because at the end of the day these are the people who will be there for answering their phone at God awful hours just to let you know you need to stop crying and smudging your mascara.

 5. The Law of Attraction is a very real and simple force.  Learn to use it for benefit, and watch as your world transforms..

….if you really change your thoughts you do change your world. Whatever you want you can create and make happen. Always be positive because complaining or feeling sorry for yourself is really going to get you nowhere…sorry to say but it’s the harsh truth.

In the meantime shop til you drop, dance all those calories away, love deep, care less, laugh more and smile BIG!!!

“Doesn’t matter how tough we are. Trauma always leaves a scar. It follows us home, it changes our lives, Trauma messes everybody up, but maybe that’s the point: All the pain and the fear and the crap. Maybe going through all of that is what keeps us moving forward, it’s what pushes us. Maybe we have to get a little messed up, before we can step up.” —Grey’s Anatomy

Life As We Know It

image

Predictable plot and yet I could not get enough of this movie. Katherine and Josh have great chemistry and it’s really just an all around feel good film. Makes you wonder how your own life will unfold unexpectedly. It definitely made me think of how much my life has changed in the past couple of years and how you never really know what’s around the corner, so you might as well enjoy the unraveled moments you are in. The idea of family is also brought up in this film and what constitutes the norm, which made me  ponder on the fact that there really is no norm in life. You have to create and live in a life as you and not anyone else knows it!!! The life I live as I know it right now consists of a lot of amazing possibilities and I don’t want to miss out on any! You create the life you live with what is given to you and making sure your own priorities are lined up correctly is the first step to success. Smile With, Laugh With, Share With, Respect and Love each person in your life a lot each day and nothing can go wrong!

Every Woman Should Know.....

“A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own even if she never wants
to or needs to…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
something perfect to wear if the employer or date of her
dreams wants to see her in an hour…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
a youth she’s content to leave behind….
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
a past juicy enough that she’s looking forward to
retelling it in her old age….
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …..
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black
lace bra…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
one friend who always makes her laugh… and one who
lets her cry…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone
else in her family…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems, and a
recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honored…
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….
a feeling of control over her destiny…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
how to fall in love without losing herself..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
HOW TO QUIT A JOB,
BREAK UP WITH A LOVER,
AND CONFRONT A FRIEND WITHOUT RUINING THE FRIENDSHIP…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
when to try harder… and WHEN TO WALK AWAY…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
that she can’t change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
that her childhood may not have been perfect…but it’s over…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
what she would and wouldn’t do for love or more…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
how to live alone… even if she doesn’t like it…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
whom she can trust,
whom she can’t,
and why she shouldn’t
take it personally…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
where to go…
be it to her best friend’s kitchen table…
or a charming inn in the woods…
when her soul needs soothing…
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
what she can and can’t accomplish in a day…
a month…and a year…”

A New Year Everyday

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
— Marilyn Monroe

I am starting this blog to remind everyone and myself to think of everyday as a new year! If you stop and think of everything you have learned up to this point and then fast forward twenty years just think how much more you will learn, change and evolve…it’s really an exciting thought!

Recommendations of three of my favorite things; music, wine and books!

Wine: Innocent Bystander Pinot Gris 2008….delicious!!!

Band: Nico Vega

Book: How Starbucks Changed My Life
